Der Fliegerhorst der berühmten JG 5 Herdla-Staffel in Norwegen The Home of the famous JG 5 Herdla Bunch in Norway Eines der bekanntes Geschwader der deutschen Luftwaffe während des II. Weltkrieges war das Jagdgeschwader 5 "Eismeer". Teile der III. und der IV. Gruppe waren auf dem Fliegerhorst der Insel Herdla, in Norwegen stationiert und gelangten aufgrund ihrer hervorragenden Piloten und der besonderen Bemalung der Flugzeuge besondere Bekanntheit und Respekt bei ihren hauptsächlichen Gegner, der britischen Royal Air Force (RAF) und der sowjetischen Voyenno-Vozdushne Sily (VVS). Diese Webseiten beschreiben die einzelnen Staffel des Jagdgeschwaders 5 "Eismeer" und ihre Messerschmitt Bf-109 und Focke Wulf Fw-190 von 1941 bis zum Ende des Krieges im Frühjahr 1945. Ich bemühe mich alle historisch bekannten Tarnschemen der verschiedenen Flugzeuge dieses Jagdgeschwaders für Forgotten Battles und Pacific Fighters zu erstellen und hoffe das diese euch gefallen.
One of the few well know Fighter Squadron of the once feared Luftwaffe was the Jagdgeschwader 5 "Eismeer". Parts of the III. and IV. Group was stationed at a airfield on the Island of Herdla, Bergen Region in Norway. Because of their skilled pilots and related to the special paint work this Squadron it keeps well known in the past and earns the respect of its main opponents in the aerial battles, the British Royal Air Force (RAF) and the soviet Voyenno-Vozdushne Sily (VVS). These information pages described the aircrafts of the single Wings of Jagdgeschwader 5 "Eismeer" and their Messerschmitt Bf-109 and Focke Wulf Fw-190 "Butcherbirds" from 1942 to the end of the war early spring 1945. Das Museum in Herdla verfügt über eine schöne Sammlung von Plastikmodellen deutscher Flugzeuge, die auf der Luftwaffen-Basis in Herdla stationiert waren. Das nachfolgende Foto zeigt einen Ausschnitt aus einem großen Diorama im Zentrum des Museums. Alle Modelle sind von Kjetil Aakra und Kjetil Korsnes angefertigt. Sie haben diese Modelle (nach 3 jährigen Recherchen) so authentisch wie möglich gebaut und bis in das kleinste Detail haargenau abgestimmt. Alle Modelle, bis auf eines sind im Maßstab 1:48 gehalten.
Herdla museum has many plastic models showing the German planes that was based on Herdla airbase. The following photo shows some of the models in a big diorama settings that is in the centre of the museum. All the models on the museum is done by Kjetil Aakra and Kjetil Korsnes. They have made the models as authentic as possible ( 3 years research ) and the models are detailed far beyond the eye can see ( as always). All but one is in 1:48 scale.

Neben den Büchern und Dokumenten erhielt ich viele wichtige Informationen von Kjetil Aakra, der neben den Modellen im Museum auch hervorragende Farbprofile der Luftwaffen-Flugzeuge erstellte. In der nahen Zukunft erscheinen einige Publikation zum Thema Luftwaffe in Norwegen während des zweiten Weltkrieges. Im speziellen WWII Air War over the North Board Forum sind viele der Informationen nachzulesen und dort findet ihr auch Kontakt zu Kjetil Aakra, Andreas Brekken, atckyrre und den anderen Mitgliedern des Forums! Very important information are distributed by Kjetil Aakra himself, who not only made the models for the diorama in edition he had drawn fantastic profiles of the aircrafts and will also publish some books about World War II aircrafts in Norway. Please visit also the special WWII Air War over the North Board where many of these Information's are listed and could be discussed further on together with Kjetil Aakra, Andreas Brekken, atckyrre and the other Members of the Board. In addition another important place is the page of the SIG Luftwaffe in Norway Web organisation, which covers in Detail the historic events and information related to Luftwaffe Activities in Norway during World War II.
